Officers of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) in Ikorodu have successfully apprehended two individuals attempting to steal construction materials, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to community security.
The suspects, Olamilekan Adumobi, 21, from Ogun State, and Jabir, a self-identified scrap dealer from Katsina State, were caught in front of the Central Mosque on Kazeem Arulogun Street.
Upon interrogation at the LNSC Command office in Ita-Elewa, the suspects admitted to stealing five cutting discs, two welding tongs, five angle irons, and an iron hammer from a property in Abule Balogun, Eruwen. The rightful owners, Barrister Ade Adeshina and Pastor Talabi Adegbenro, were promptly contacted and identified their missing items.
Commending the officers for their swift response, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan, General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a crime-free Lagos. He also warned criminals to steer clear of the state, emphasizing that law enforcement remains vigilant in maintaining public safety.
Epe Insights reports that despite the severity of the offence, the property owners opted not to press charges on compassionate grounds. However, the suspects were compelled to sign undertakings pledging to refrain from any future criminal activity before being released.
