In a remarkable display of faith and unity, the Lagos State First Family in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, hosted a special Eid-ul-Fitr celebration on Tuesday at Lagos House, Marina.
Addressing attendees, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged residents to continue praying for the progress and well-being of the state.
He also advised intending pilgrims with health challenges to prioritize their well-being, emphasizing that those unfit for the journey should seek medical treatment and consider deferring their pilgrimage until the following year.
In her welcome remarks, the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, highlighted the importance of unity and gratitude during the festival. She described Eid-ul-Fitr as a time for deep reflection and a reaffirmation of Islamic values, emphasizing the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

Adding a scholarly perspective, Dr. Munirudeen Ar-Riyardy, a senior lecturer from Lagos State University of Education, expounded on the event’s theme, “My Lord, Indeed I Am in Need of Whatever Good You Would Send Me.” He underscored the virtues of selflessness, encouraging individuals facing challenges to seek positive and constructive solutions while upholding integrity as responsible citizens.

The event drew a diverse gathering, including religious leaders, government officials, civil servants, and members of the public, fostering a spirit of togetherness and devotion during the festive occasion.
