The Lagos State Government and the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC) Council have called on local and international investors to support the establishment of an International Financial Centre (IFC) in Lagos, aimed at driving economic and financial growth.
Epe Insights reports that the call was made during the EnterpriseNGR’s first Quarterly Members’ Night of 2025, held at Victoria Island, Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of public-private sector collaboration in achieving the LIFC’s goals, noting that the establishment of the centre would play a pivotal role in transforming Lagos into a global financial hub.
“The partnership between the public and private sectors is the solution, and that is what we have been looking for,” he said, adding that the centre would make Lagos a preferred destination for global investment.
Co-Chairman of the LIFC Council and Chairman of EnterpriseNGR, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, referred to the LIFC as a “national strategic imperative” and a transformative platform for attracting international capital. He stressed that the financial centre would deepen Nigeria’s capital markets, boost Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and support economic diversification across industries.
The event, attended by top Lagos State Government officials, industry leaders, foreign partners, and media stakeholders, showcased the vision for the LIFC. It is designed to elevate Nigeria’s competitiveness and position Lagos as West Africa’s first and Africa’s largest international financial centre.
Both government and private sector leaders are optimistic that the LIFC will bring about a dramatic economic transformation, attracting global investment and positioning Lagos as a destination of choice for financial and business opportunities.
