PBAT Feeds: Renewed Hope School Feeding Programme

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA),has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving child nutrition and quality education through sustained support for the Adopt-A-School: Snacks for Thought (PBAT Feeds) initiative.

Epe Insights reports that Hon. Anomo made the commitment during the official launch of the programme at RCM Primary School, Itoikin, describing quality education as a combination of effective learning, proper nutrition and a conducive school environment.

The council chairman said education goes beyond the provision of classrooms and physical infrastructure, stressing that a healthy child is better positioned to learn, grow and achieve academic success.

He explained that nutritious meals contribute significantly to pupils’ concentration, classroom participation and overall cognitive development, making school feeding programmes an important investment in the future.

According to Hon. Anomo, his administration will continue to support initiatives that directly improve the welfare, health and academic performance of pupils across Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to complementing the educational policies of the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government through programmes that promote child development and learning.

The launch attracted key government officials, education stakeholders, traditional leaders, parents, teachers and pupils who gathered to witness the commencement of the pilot phase of the programme.

Among the dignitaries present was the National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, represented by Mrs. Olufunke Ogun.

Also in attendance were representatives of the Epe Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), including Executive Secretary Hon. Shittu Idowu, represented by Mr. Adesanya S.G., and the LGEA Health Desk Officer, Mrs. Balogun O.O.

The Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Dehinsilu, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Lukman Anjorin, members of the Executive Council and councillors also participated in the event.

Other attendees included the Council Manager, Mr. Sunday Awobajo, members of the management team, traditional leaders, APC stakeholders, school administrators and community representatives.

Speaking on behalf of the National Coordinator, Mrs. Olufunke Ogun described the initiative as a reflection of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving children’s welfare through better nutrition and education.

She noted that providing healthy meals in schools would encourage increased enrolment, improve attendance and create a more supportive environment for learning.

Mrs. Ogun urged parents, teachers and school authorities to embrace the programme and work together to ensure its successful implementation across participating schools.

The Programme Coordinator for Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Mrs. Badru Fatimah Omodunni, explained that the exercise at RCM Primary School, Itoikin, marks the pilot phase of the initiative.

She disclosed that additional public primary schools across the local council would benefit as the programme expands in subsequent phases.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Headmistress of RCM Primary School, Mrs. B. R. Ososami, commended the Anomo administration for its continued investment in education and child welfare.

She praised the council’s commitment to creating better learning opportunities through interventions that support both teachers and pupils.

Parents and education stakeholders welcomed the programme, expressing optimism that improved nutrition would positively influence pupils’ academic performance and overall wellbeing.

The flag-off further demonstrates the commitment of Hon. Wale Raji Anomo’s administration to strengthening basic education through strategic partnerships that place children at the centre of development.

As implementation begins across Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, residents remain hopeful that the initiative will improve learning outcomes, reduce classroom hunger and prepare a healthier generation equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.
