Lekki LCDA Begins PBAT FEEDS School Programme

Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has flagged off the “Adopt A School – Snacks for Thought (PBAT FEEDS)” initiative under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (RHNHGSFP), reaffirming its commitment to improving child nutrition and learning outcomes in public primary schools.

Epe Insights reports that the three-day programme commenced at Community Primary School, Otolu, bringing together government officials, education stakeholders and development partners to support the wellbeing of pupils through nutritious school feeding.

The initiative is being implemented through a partnership involving the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and Conference 57 as part of efforts to strengthen basic education and enhance the welfare of schoolchildren.

Pupils of Community Primary School, Otolu, and Local Government Primary School, Oriyanrin, emerged as the first beneficiaries of the programme, while more public primary schools are scheduled to benefit in the coming days.

The initiative is designed to provide nutritious snacks to pupils before classes, helping to improve concentration, school attendance and academic performance.

Representing the wife of the Executive Chairman, Alhaja Ramat Bola Kasali, the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Bukola Lawal, commended the programme for complementing existing education and social intervention policies.

She noted that collaboration between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and local councils remains essential to building a brighter future for children through quality education and improved welfare.

Dr. Lawal also stressed that sustained partnerships would help expand the reach of programmes that directly impact pupils and strengthen learning outcomes across public schools.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Lagos State Government and all development partners for supporting the initiative.

He described the programme as a strategic investment in the nation’s future, noting that proper nutrition plays a critical role in children’s physical growth, mental development and classroom performance.

According to the chairman, well-nourished pupils are more likely to remain attentive during lessons, achieve better academic results and develop the skills needed for future success.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lekki LCDA administration to supporting programmes that improve education, child welfare and human capital development across the council area.

Stakeholders at the event described the school feeding initiative as a practical intervention capable of reducing absenteeism, encouraging enrolment and creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils.

Parents and teachers also welcomed the programme, expressing optimism that it would ease the burden on families while motivating children to attend school regularly.

The flag-off of the PBAT FEEDS initiative reflects the shared commitment of government and development partners to strengthening public education through sustainable investments in child nutrition and social development.

As implementation continues across participating schools, the initiative is expected to improve learning outcomes, promote healthier lifestyles and contribute to the overall development of public primary education in Lekki LCDA.
