The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Branch, states that its 2025 Annual Youth Congress has enhanced youth capacity in employment readiness, entrepreneurship, and economic awareness.

Epe Insights reports that the Congress convened youths, policymakers, private sector partners, and development stakeholders to discuss sustainable livelihood opportunities and local economic growth.

NYCN Epe Coordinator, Mr Moibi Ibrahim, stated that the programme yielded measurable outcomes in self-empowerment, personal development, and economic consciousness among participants.

He noted that the theme of the Congress provided timely and practical guidance for young people navigating Nigeria’s current economic realities.

According to Ibrahim, participants gained clarity on sustainable livelihoods through focused sessions designed to inspire confidence and long-term self-reliance.

Guest lecturer, Dr Olubunmi Kole Dawodu, Deputy Director of SMEDAN Lagos State, exposed attendees to employment pathways, entrepreneurship opportunities, and available government support schemes.

Organisers said the session equipped youths with the practical knowledge needed to convert business ideas into viable enterprises and access institutional support.

The Congress attracted dignitaries, including Hon. Tobun Abiodun, LAHA Epe I; Hon. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, represented by Mr Kaka Babatunde; and Hon. Hammed Seriki, Commissioner II, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission.

Others in attendance were Hon. Wasiu Ayeola Olaomopo of Lekki Worldwide, who chaired the event, and Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government and Grand Matron of NYCN Epe.

The event featured panel discussions on business opportunities and celebrated graduates of NYCN vocational skills programmes, with assurances of mentorship and follow-up support.

Ibrahim said the Congress marked the beginning of sustained engagement aimed at empowering youths toward economic independence.
