The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Epe, has hosted its maiden stakeholders’ meeting, bringing together traditional rulers, political leaders, healthcare professionals, community representatives, and other key stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving healthcare delivery across Epe Division.
Epe Insights reports that the historic gathering marked a significant milestone for the newly established tertiary health institution, providing an opportunity for its management to present achievements recorded since inception, engage directly with stakeholders, and outline plans for strengthening healthcare services in Epe and neighbouring communities.
Welcoming participants, the Medical Director of FMC Epe, Dr. Adesola Kaka, expressed gratitude to the people of Epe Division for their continued support since the establishment of the hospital.
He noted that the cooperation and goodwill received from residents, traditional institutions, government officials, and community leaders have played an important role in the progress recorded during the medical centre’s first year of operation.
Dr. Kaka highlighted several achievements made by the hospital, including improvements in healthcare delivery, expansion of medical facilities, enhanced patient care, and ongoing investments aimed at positioning FMC Epe as a centre of excellence in tertiary healthcare.
He reaffirmed the management’s commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and patient-centred healthcare services while maintaining high professional standards across all departments.
According to the Medical Director, the maiden stakeholders’ meeting was introduced to establish a sustainable platform for dialogue, transparency, accountability, and collaboration between the hospital and the communities it serves.
He explained that regular engagement with stakeholders will enable the institution to better understand public expectations, improve service delivery, and strengthen trust between healthcare providers and residents.
The keynote address was delivered by Mrs. Anjous Ademuyiwa, who spoke on the theme, “Making FMC Epe Work for All: A Shared Responsibility for Building Trust, Improving Service and Enhancing Patient Care.”
She stressed that quality healthcare can only be achieved through strong collaboration among government, healthcare professionals, development partners, and members of the public.
Mrs. Ademuyiwa encouraged residents to regard FMC Epe as a shared community asset that deserves continuous support, protection, and collective ownership.
She also urged members of the public to embrace preventive healthcare, adopt healthy lifestyles, and make effective use of the quality medical services available at the hospital.
Representing the traditional institution, the Oloja of Epe Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, commended the management and staff of FMC Epe for the remarkable progress achieved within a relatively short period.
The monarch praised the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of the hospital’s workforce in providing quality healthcare services to residents of Epe Division.
Oba Animashaun appealed to the people of Epe to continue supporting the institution, describing the medical centre as a major investment that will improve access to quality healthcare for generations to come.
The royal father also issued a strong warning against any form of harassment, intimidation, or assault on healthcare workers.
He emphasised that medical personnel deserve respect and protection while carrying out their responsibilities and cautioned that anyone found obstructing or attacking healthcare workers would face the full weight of the law.
Also speaking at the meeting, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, applauded the management of FMC Epe for its commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
Ikuforiji described the maiden stakeholders’ meeting as a commendable initiative capable of strengthening public confidence in the institution while promoting greater community participation in its development.
He called on government at all levels, traditional rulers, community leaders, corporate organisations, and philanthropists to support the continued growth and expansion of the medical centre.
The former Speaker also pledged his personal support for initiatives that will enhance healthcare delivery and strengthen medical services across Epe Division.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was an interactive session between the hospital’s management and stakeholders from various communities.
Participants raised questions and shared observations on issues including service delivery, staffing, infrastructure, accessibility, emergency response, patient welfare, and the future expansion of the hospital.
Responding to the concerns raised, Dr. Adesola Kaka assured participants that every observation had been carefully noted by management.
He stated that the hospital would continue implementing practical measures to improve operational efficiency, strengthen patient satisfaction, and enhance the quality of healthcare services.
The Medical Director reiterated that FMC Epe remains committed to building a healthcare institution that reflects excellence, professionalism, innovation, and accountability.
