The Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation (OTCI) has successfully resolved the longstanding overlap of responsibilities between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the Ministry of Waterfront and Infrastructure Development (MWID) in Lagos State.
EpeInsights gathered that this significant achievement aims to foster smoother governance and improve operational efficiency within the state.
In a recent Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, the OTCI facilitated a detailed dialogue between the two ministries, focusing on the critical areas of dredging, mining, and mineral resources.
The goal was to clearly delineate their functions to avoid confusion and ensure that both ministries could focus on their core mandates without stepping on each other’s toes.
The Director-General of the OTCI, Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, underscored the importance of the engagement in removing governance barriers.
She stated that through constructive discussions and a shared commitment to clarity, a formal resolution was reached that would empower both ministries to perform their roles effectively.
One of the key outcomes from the meeting was the establishment of boundary limitations between the two ministries regarding dredging and mining activities.
This new arrangement, which takes effect immediately, will be closely monitored and coordinated by the OTCI to ensure compliance and smooth implementation.
“This is a significant step toward enhancing collaboration between MWID and MEMR,” Anjous-Ademuyiwa said.
“Our work does not end here. The OTCI will continue to provide support and monitor progress, ensuring that this resolution fosters sustainable development and strengthens governance in Lagos State.”
With the clear delineation of duties now in place, the OTCI is set to continue its role in fostering effective governance, ensuring that Lagos State’s growth and development remain on track.
