As the race to the 2025 Local Government elections heats up, the political tempo in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has taken a decisive turn following the official release of the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening results for chairmanship aspirants.
EpeInsights reports that a total of eight aspirants from Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA have been cleared to contest in the APC chairmanship primaries, setting the stage for what promises to be a vibrant and competitive internal election ahead of the main polls.
Notably, the lineup reflects a diverse blend of political experience, youthful dynamism, and gender inclusion offering the electorate a range of credible options.
Topping the list with the highest performance score of 90% is Anomo Adewale Ibrahim, a familiar name in local politics known for his grassroots mobilization and development-driven agenda. Closely behind are Onanuga Adeniyi Samson and Adebayo Abiodun, both scoring 83%, showcasing a tight contest among frontrunners.
Also making the cut are: Muniru Temitope (82%), Banjo Lateef Adeola (81%), Ojikutu Oluyombo (80%), Bakare Olusola Waheed (80%)
Adding to the mix is Fabayo Gbemisola, the only female aspirant on the list, who earned a commendable 73%, marking a significant nod to female political participation in the historically male-dominated terrain of local governance.
The screening exercise, conducted at the APC Lagos State Secretariat in Acme, Ikeja, concluded without disqualifications or unsuccessful entries for Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA—an indication of the aspirants’ political readiness and compliance with party standards.
Party insiders describe the cleared candidates as “tested and trusted loyalists of the APC,” noting that the upcoming May 10 primaries will be a test of popularity, strategy, and community engagement rather than mere ambition.
Political observers within the Epe Division are keenly watching how the primaries unfold, especially as local stakeholders and interest groups begin aligning with preferred aspirants.
