In a bold move to improve road safety and reduce accidents, the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has apprehended more than 200 unroadworthy vehicles across the state.

EpeInsights reports that the Director of VIS, Engr. Akin-George Fashola, who led the recent enforcement drive, revealed that many of the seized vehicles were commercial minibuses, commonly known as Danfos and Korope which are frequently linked to road mishaps in Lagos State.

“This operation goes beyond private cars. It targets every vehicle type that forms part of our transport system,” Engr. Fashola stated.

He urged vehicle owners, especially those using their vehicles for commercial purposes, to ensure they meet safety and roadworthiness standards.

“Before putting any vehicle on the road, get it properly inspected at any of our annex offices,” he advised.

Engr. Fashola reaffirmed VIS’ commitment to continued enforcement, aiming for a safer and more efficient transportation network in Lagos.
