Hon. Olowa Joins Launch of PBAT FEEDS Initiative

Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has attended the official launch of the Adopt-a-School: Snacks for Thought – PBAT FEEDS initiative, a programme designed to improve nutrition and learning outcomes among primary school pupils.

Epe Insights reports that the initiative is a collaborative effort between the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, aimed at providing nutritious breakfast meals to pupils before the start of school activities.

The launch took place at Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), attracting local government chairmen, government officials, development partners, corporate organisations and education stakeholders.

The programme seeks to improve school attendance, enhance pupils’ concentration in the classroom and promote better academic performance through regular access to nutritious meals.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that improve the welfare and educational development of schoolchildren.

She noted that collaboration between government institutions, private organisations and development partners remains essential to delivering sustainable interventions that benefit pupils across the state.

National Programme Manager of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, explained that the initiative is designed to provide healthy breakfast snacks and beverages before classes begin.

According to her, the programme is expected to improve learning outcomes by helping pupils stay focused during lessons while encouraging regular school attendance.

She added that the Adopt-a-School model creates opportunities for corporate organisations, philanthropists and development partners to contribute directly to the wellbeing of children through strategic investments in education.

Hon. Olowa’s participation at the event reflects the commitment of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to initiatives that promote quality education, child welfare and human capital development.

The council has continued to support programmes that improve access to education and create a more enabling environment for pupils to achieve their full potential.

Stakeholders at the launch described school feeding as an effective strategy for improving enrolment, reducing absenteeism and supporting the overall development of children.

The initiative also aligns with broader efforts to strengthen basic education through collaborative partnerships that address the nutritional needs of pupils while enhancing classroom performance.

As governments and development partners deepen investments in education, the programme is expected to contribute significantly to healthier pupils, improved academic achievement and stronger educational outcomes across Lagos State and beyond.
