The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has flagged off the construction of an ultra-modern market in Orimedu Community.

Epe Insights reports that the project marks a major step toward boosting infrastructure and improving livelihoods for residents within the fast-growing Orimedu axis.

Speaking at the ceremony, Olowa recalled that the existing market was originally built in 1996 by Bode Oyedele during his time as Sole Administrator.

He noted that population growth and increased economic activities have outpaced the capacity of the old facility. This, he said, made the development of a new and modern market necessary.

According to the chairman, the new market will feature standard facilities. It is designed to meet current commercial demands and improve the trading environment.

Olowa described the project as more than a marketplace initiative. He said it is a strategic move to drive broader development across Orimedu and the entire council area.

He added that the project will serve as a model for similar developments. Plans are already underway to replicate such markets in other communities within the local government.

He emphasized that the construction will generate employment opportunities. Both direct and indirect jobs are expected to benefit the local economy.
