Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has carried out the official opening of bids for a range of development projects, underscoring its commitment to transparency, accountability, and value-driven governance.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise was held on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Adewale Adebanjo.
In his remarks, Adebanjo stressed that procurement remains central to the administration’s development agenda. He described it as a key driver of sustainable growth rather than a routine government procedure.

He noted that all projects undertaken by the council must adhere strictly to due process. According to him, fairness, transparency, and value for money are essential to delivering impactful results.
Adebanjo also urged contractors to maintain high standards. He emphasized integrity, competence, and timely delivery as critical expectations from all bidders.
The bid opening was formally declared open by the Council Manager, Adekoya Augustine Adesanya.

A total of 29 submissions from contractors were received and publicly opened. The process was conducted in a transparent manner to ensure credibility.
The Head of Procurement Unit, Raodat Titilola Issa, provided further insight into the exercise.
She explained that the bid process was widely publicized. Advertisements were placed in national newspapers for 14 days to ensure broad awareness.

Issa added that the approach allowed residents to observe the process. This was aimed at strengthening public confidence in the council’s procurement system.
She reiterated that the exercise was designed to uphold fairness and transparency. Ensuring credibility remained a key priority throughout the process.
The event attracted a wide range of observers. Stakeholders from youth and student groups were present to monitor proceedings.

Civil society representatives, including members of the Civil Liberties Organization, also participated.
Non-governmental organizations were in attendance as well. Their involvement further reinforced the openness of the exercise.
The council maintained that transparent procurement is essential for development. It ensures that projects are executed efficiently and responsibly.
