Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has conducted the official opening of bids for multiple development projects, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and accountable governance.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise was held under the supervision of the Executive Chairman, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Local Government, Adewale Adebanjo.
Speaking at the session, Adebanjo stressed the importance of procurement in governance. He described it as a critical foundation for delivering sustainable and impactful development projects.
According to him, procurement goes beyond routine administrative duties. He noted that it must be guided by due process, fairness, and value for money.

He emphasized that every project executed by the council must reflect transparency. This, he said, is key to achieving people-centered development.
Adebanjo also addressed contractors participating in the process. He urged them to maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism.
He called for competence and timely delivery of projects. Contractors were encouraged to align with the administration’s development goals.
The bid opening process was formally declared open by the Council Manager, Adekoya Augustine Adesanya.

A total of 29 bids were received from various contractors. These were publicly opened during the exercise to ensure openness.
The Head of Procurement Unit, Raodat Titilola Issa, provided details of the process.
She explained that the bid was widely advertised in national dailies. The publication ran for 14 days to ensure broad awareness and participation.
Issa noted that the approach allowed residents to observe the process. This was aimed at strengthening public trust in the system.

She emphasized that transparency and credibility were central to the exercise. The process was designed to eliminate bias and ensure fairness.
The event attracted a wide range of stakeholders. Representatives from youth and student bodies were present to observe proceedings.
