The construction of a new ultra-modern market in Orimedu Community marks a major step in the council’s drive to strengthen infrastructure and improve residents’ livelihoods.

Epe Insights reports that, speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa reflected on the history of the existing market. He noted that it was originally built in 1996 by Bode Oyedele during his tenure as Sole Administrator.

He explained that rapid population growth and increased economic activities in Orimedu have rendered the old facility inadequate. This development, he said, made the need for a modern market with standard amenities unavoidable.

According to the Chairman, the project goes beyond providing a space for trading. He described it as a strategic initiative aimed at driving overall development within Orimedu and across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

He added that the new market is expected to serve as a model for other communities. Plans are in place to replicate similar projects in different parts of the council area.

Hon. Olowa also called on youths and residents to support the project. He urged them to cooperate with contractors and government officials to ensure smooth execution.
