Epe Insights reports that the bid opening exercise took place at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat in Igando-Oloja as part of efforts to ensure transparency, accountability and due process in the delivery of public infrastructure projects.
The exercise was supervised by the Vice Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, while the Council Manager, Dr. Adekoya Augustine, formally declared the session open.
The bidding process marks a significant stage in the procurement procedure for the Gbetu-Iwerekun Road project, which is expected to improve road connectivity and support economic activities within the benefiting communities upon completion.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Procurement Unit, Mrs. Raola Titilayo Issa, confirmed that bids had been submitted by participating construction companies.

Four companies submitted bids for the Gbetu-Iwerekun Road project. They are Tetra M, Otech Concession Nigeria Limited, O2s Construction Company and Amity New Heights Global.

The participation of the companies formed part of the competitive procurement process through which submissions would be considered in line with the applicable requirements.
Representatives of the executive and legislative arms of the local government were also present during the exercise, highlighting the importance of institutional oversight in public procurement.
Their participation underscored the council’s stated commitment to accountability and adherence to established procedures in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
Representing the legislative arm, the Majority Leader, Hon. Zainab Ayobola Eletu, delivered the closing remarks. She commended the exercise and emphasised the need to maintain procurement standards throughout the execution of public projects.
The Conference 57 Road Initiative is designed to support road infrastructure development across Lagos State, with the 114 approved roads forming part of the projects being taken through the bidding process.
For Ibeju-Lekki, the inclusion of Gbetu-Iwerekun Road is expected to contribute to improved accessibility and easier movement for residents, traders, motorists and other road users when construction is completed.

Road infrastructure plays an important role in connecting communities, facilitating transportation and supporting local businesses. Improved access can also make it easier for residents to reach workplaces, markets and essential services.
The planned project is therefore expected to support mobility and contribute to the continued development of the benefiting areas.
The bid opening exercise represents an initial procurement milestone. Further steps will be required before the successful contractor can proceed with construction, in accordance with the relevant procurement procedures.
The local government has reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability in the process, with the participation of relevant officials providing oversight during the exercise.
As the procurement process progresses, residents will look forward to the eventual implementation of the Gbetu-Iwerekun Road project and its anticipated benefits for transportation and community development.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen road infrastructure across Lagos State and improve the quality of life of residents through improved connectivity.
