Maureen Idehen Ovabor Launches Bosede Okoroma Idehen Foundation to Preserve Educational Legacy

Mrs. Maureen Idehen Ovabor has officially launched the Bosede Okoroma Idehen Foundation in honour of her late mother, Madam Bosede Idehen, with a commitment to advancing education, empowering vulnerable communities, and preserving a legacy that has shaped thousands of lives across Lagos State.

Epe Insights reports that the foundation was established to sustain the vision of the late founder of Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy, whose dedication to quality education and community service spanned more than five decades.

Speaking during the launch, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor described her late mother as a visionary educator whose passion for teaching and humanitarian service transformed countless young lives.

She said the Bosede Idehen Foundation was created to ensure that Madam Bosede Okoroma Idehen’s ideals of excellence, compassion, and service continue to inspire future generations.

According to her, the foundation will provide educational support through scholarships, school materials, mentorship programmes, and initiatives aimed at improving learning opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Beyond education, she noted that the organisation will also support widows, empower vulnerable families, promote youth development, and partner with communities to improve social welfare.

Reflecting on her personal journey, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor revealed that although she trained and practised as a pharmacist, she never envisioned herself taking over the administration of the schools established by her mother.

She explained that watching the enormous sacrifices required to build and sustain an educational institution initially discouraged her from pursuing a similar path.

However, she said taking over the schools eventually became a responsibility she embraced with faith and determination.

“Education is more than running a school. It is a lifelong commitment to shaping lives, building character, and creating opportunities for future generations,” she said.

Mrs. Idehen Ovabor also highlighted the enduring success of Springfield Private School, noting that the institution has remained operational for over 50 years without relying on bank loans or external financial support.

She attributed the school’s longevity to the values of integrity, discipline, prudent management, and unwavering commitment established by its founder.

Recalling the school’s history, she said Madam Bosede Okoroma Idehen relocated Springfield Private School from Ikeja to Abule Egba in 1975 despite concerns from many who doubted the potential of the developing community.

According to her, that bold decision has become one of the school’s greatest success stories, with the institution now recognised as one of the leading private schools in the area.

She further revealed that throughout her lifetime, Madam Bosede Idehen consistently provided scholarships and financial assistance to children whose parents struggled to pay school fees.

“My mother believed that no child should lose the opportunity to receive quality education because of financial hardship. That principle remains the driving force behind this foundation,” she said.

Mrs. Idehen Ovabor added that the Bosede Okoroma Idehen Foundation will collaborate with schools, community organisations, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to implement projects that promote literacy, leadership, skills development, and social inclusion.

She expressed optimism that the foundation would become a platform for transforming lives while preserving the enduring values that defined her mother’s remarkable career.

Late Madam Bosede Idehen is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of private education in Lagos. Through Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy, she established an educational legacy that continues to produce responsible leaders and inspire academic excellence across generations.

With the launch of the Bosede Okoroma Idehen Foundation, her vision now extends beyond the classroom, creating new opportunities to educate, empower, and uplift communities throughout Lagos State and Nigeria.
