Odo-Egiri Kingdom Marks Eebi Festival with Royal Splendor, Cultural Reconnection

The ancient town of Odo-Egiri in Lagos State’s Eredo LCDA came alive as it hosted the annual Eebi Festival, a vibrant celebration of tradition, unity and spiritual renewal.

EpeInsights reports that the Festival was Presided over by His Royal Majesty, Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri Kingdom.

It drew traditional rulers, cultural enthusiasts, and indigenes from across Yorubaland and the diaspora.

“This festival is a powerful reminder of who we are,” Oba Oliwo said during the rites. “It connects us to our ancestors, strengthens our traditions, and brings our people back home.”

The event featured a rich display of Yoruba heritage from sacred rituals to rhythmic drumming, spirited dancing, and communal feasting.

It also served as a symbolic homecoming, especially for young people and members of the Odo-Egiri community living abroad.

Other monarchs in attendance included Oba Nureni Siriku Odedina, the Oniladaba of Ladaba Kingdom, who described the Eebi Festival as “a cleansing of the land and soul,” and Oba Adebowale Omola of Odomola, who emphasized the importance of preserving such traditions for future generations.

“This is the one time of the year we all look forward to,” said a young festival-goer who returned from the United States. “After being scattered across the globe, Eebi brings us back together.”

The festival underscored a collective commitment to cultural identity, intergenerational connection, and spiritual continuity. For many, it was more than just a celebration it was a renewal of roots.
