Lagos State Police Command has dismissed rumors circulating online about an alleged explosion in the state.
EpeInsights reports that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, clarified the situation in a statement released on Saturday, explaining that no explosion occurred on Friday, April 19, 2025.
Jimoh explained that the viral video causing panic actually stemmed from an explosion that occurred on April 11 at a CCTV shop in Computer Village, Ikeja.
The investigation into that incident is still ongoing.
The Commissioner reassured residents that there was no cause for concern, urging them to continue their daily activities without fear.
He emphasized that proactive measures have been put in place to ensure police presence and a safe environment for all.
Jimoh also urged social media users and bloggers to refrain from spreading misinformation that could provoke unnecessary panic or anxiety among the public.
He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining peace throughout Lagos.
