The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has disclaimed a fake 2025 local government election notice currently making the rounds on social media and various online platforms.
Epe Insights reports that in a statement released on Friday, April 4, the Commission clarified that the purported notice did not originate from LASIEC, and therefore should be completely disregarded by the public.
According to the statement signed by the Chairman of LASIEC, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), the commission is not responsible for the publication and has not released any official date or schedule for the 2025 local government elections in Lagos State.
“The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that such Notice of Election did not emanate from the Commission,” the statement read.

LASIEC urged political parties, voters, and critical stakeholders to remain vigilant and await official communications regarding the elections. It emphasized that the process for conducting local government elections in Lagos is governed by law, and any official announcement will be made through established legal and media channels, including national newspapers.
“At the appropriate time as stipulated by law, the notice of election shall be published in the various newspapers,” the Commission reiterated.
The commission also warned against the spread of false information that could mislead the public and disrupt the electoral process.
The clarification comes amid growing online speculation about the timing of the next local government elections in Lagos State, prompting LASIEC to set the record straight and reinforce public confidence in the electoral process.
For verified updates, citizens are encouraged to follow LASIEC’s official channels and ignore unofficial or unverified election-related posts on social media.
