The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has officially accepted the nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos State election, expressing gratitude and commitment to serve the people.

He recalled his political and professional journey that began in Mushin, noting that it was shaped by years of service, discipline, and a belief that government must consistently improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
Dr. Hamzat highlighted his over two decades of public service in Lagos State, where he worked alongside leaders who laid the foundation for the state’s ongoing development and growth.
He stated that governance is demanding but achievable when driven by vision, courage, and a sincere commitment to public welfare.
According to him, his experience as Deputy Governor has provided deeper insight into the complexity of managing a megacity like Lagos and the need for structured planning and steady leadership.
He emphasized that his decision to contest the governorship position is motivated by a desire to build a Lagos that works better for all residents, regardless of background or occupation.
Dr. Hamzat noted that his administration would focus on inclusive development, ensuring that fishermen in Badagry, traders in Mile 12, artisans in Yaba, and professionals in Victoria Island all benefit equally from government policies.
He pledged continued investment in key sectors including transportation, education, healthcare, security, job creation, and economic empowerment.
The APC governorship candidate stressed the importance of building a Lagos where no one is left behind and where young people can aspire beyond their current circumstances.
