Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has intensified its revenue sensitization campaign across ram markets within the council area as part of efforts to improve compliance and strengthen grassroots development.

Epe Insights reports that the sensitization exercise was led by the Supervisor for Revenue, Hon. Ahmed Ajibola Elemoro, alongside Revenue and Market Officers deployed across major ram markets in the local government.

The campaign focused on educating traders, livestock dealers, and market operators on the importance of remitting statutory revenues through approved government channels.

Officials explained that revenue generation remains a key driver of local government development, supporting the provision of public amenities, infrastructure maintenance, and improved service delivery.

Despite heavy rainfall during the exercise, the revenue officers continued the sensitization tour across various designated markets to ensure traders received adequate information on their civic obligations.

Revenue

Hon. Elemoro emphasized that prompt revenue payment contributes directly to community development projects and the overall growth of Ibeju-Lekki.

He urged market stakeholders to cooperate with government officials by complying with approved payment procedures and avoiding unauthorized revenue collectors.

According to him, internally generated revenue plays a vital role in funding road maintenance, environmental sanitation, healthcare support, and other grassroots interventions.

The revenue supervisor further stressed the need for transparency and accountability in all market revenue transactions within the local government area.

The sensitization campaign also reflects the commitment of the administration of Abdullahi Sesan Olowa toward ensuring proper accountability and efficient revenue management.

Officials stated that the administration remains focused on strengthening financial systems that will support sustainable development across communities in Ibeju-Lekki.

Traders and market leaders who participated in the exercise commended the local government for engaging directly with business operators and clarifying revenue-related concerns.

Some stakeholders noted that continuous awareness campaigns would help improve compliance and reduce misunderstandings between traders and revenue officers.

Observers described the exercise as part of broader efforts to improve governance, economic sustainability, and public service delivery within the local government.

The council administration reaffirmed its dedication to implementing policies that encourage transparency, responsible revenue collection, and long-term community development.

Further sensitization programmes are expected to continue across additional markets and commercial areas within Ibeju-Lekki in the coming weeks.
