Motorists navigating through Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday morning encountered disruptions following multiple reports of fallen trees and streetlights on major roads in the area.
EpeInsights reports that an update from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) revealed that three streetlights collapsed along Osborne Road.
LASTMA shared this information on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that the incident did not initially affect traffic flow, other areas were not so fortunate.
“A large tree fell at Bourdillon Road inward Alexandra roundabout, completely blocking the road and forcing LASTMA officers to divert vehicles through alternative routes.”
“Another tree came down on Alexandra Road, near the entrance to Parkview Estate, partially obstructing traffic and affecting about half of the road’s capacity.”
LASTMA officials have since mobilized to the affected areas, working to manage traffic and coordinate clearance efforts.
The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has also been notified to assist with tree removal.
In a public advisory, LASTMA urged road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic redirection until full clearance is achieved.
