Hon. Abiru Inspects Road Reconstruction

Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Ikorodu-Itoikin Road and the Itoikin-Ijebu Ode Road, reaffirming his commitment to delivering quality infrastructure across Lagos East Senatorial District.

Epe Insights reports that the lawmaker visited the project sites to assess the progress of work on the 34-kilometre Ikorodu-Itoikin Road and the 4.5-kilometre Itoikin-Ijebu Ode Road, both regarded as key transportation corridors within the district.

The inspection formed part of the senator’s continued monitoring of major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic growth across Lagos East.

During the visit, Senator Abiru expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being carried out on the road projects.

He noted that nearly seven kilometres of the Ikorodu-Itoikin Road have already been reconstructed from the Sabo Roundabout axis, with additional construction progressing steadily from the Itoikin end.

According to the senator, the ongoing reconstruction demonstrates the commitment of the government to delivering durable infrastructure that will serve residents and businesses for many years.

The Ikorodu-Itoikin Road is one of the major routes connecting communities within Lagos East, making its rehabilitation an important project for commuters, motorists, traders, and transport operators.

The adjoining Itoikin-Ijebu Ode Road also serves as a strategic link between Lagos and neighbouring communities, providing improved access for commercial and social activities.

Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of both road projects, stressing that quality infrastructure remains essential for sustainable development.

He explained that improved road networks will ease traffic movement, reduce travel time, and enhance the movement of goods and services across the senatorial district.

The senator further noted that better connectivity would stimulate economic activities by improving access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential public services.

Residents and motorists have welcomed the progress recorded on the reconstruction projects, expressing optimism that the completed roads will significantly improve transportation and road safety.

Many also commended the continuous monitoring of the projects, noting that regular inspections demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery and accountability.

Community stakeholders described the road reconstruction as a major investment that will support agriculture, commerce, tourism, and industrial development across Lagos East.

The projects are also expected to improve access to several communities within Ikorodu, Epe, and adjoining areas, creating opportunities for increased economic activities.

Observers believe the upgraded road infrastructure will strengthen regional integration and facilitate easier movement between Lagos and neighbouring states.

The inspection underscores Senator Abiru’s continued emphasis on infrastructure development as a key driver of economic growth and improved living standards.

As work progresses, residents have expressed hope that the projects will be completed within schedule, providing lasting benefits for commuters and businesses that depend on the strategic road corridors.

The reconstruction of the Ikorodu-Itoikin and Itoikin-Ijebu Ode roads remains one of the major infrastructure initiatives expected to transform transportation, improve connectivity, and support sustainable development across Lagos East Senatorial District.
