The administration of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has concluded a two-day SME Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship Development Workshop organised in partnership with Pan-Atlantic University to strengthen entrepreneurship and support local business growth.

Epe Insights reports that the workshop brought together entrepreneurs, artisans and small business owners for intensive training on financial management, digital marketing, customer relations, business expansion and enterprise sustainability.

The initiative forms part of the Local Economic Development pillar of the SHIEELD Agenda, which prioritises entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation as key drivers of sustainable economic development in Ibeju-Lekki.

Speaking at the closing session, Hon. Olowa described entrepreneurship as a major catalyst for economic growth, wealth creation and employment generation within local communities.

He said empowering small and medium-sized enterprises remains one of the most effective ways to build resilient local economies and improve household incomes.

According to the chairman, his administration remains committed to creating opportunities that equip residents with practical business knowledge and skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive economy.

Hon. Olowa commended Pan-Atlantic University for its enduring partnership with the local government, describing the institution as a dependable ally in promoting entrepreneurship and human capital development.

He noted that the collaboration has continued to deliver impactful programmes that empower residents through quality education, business development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships capable of unlocking economic opportunities for entrepreneurs across Ibeju-Lekki.

Participants received practical training in bookkeeping, financial planning, customer engagement, digital business tools and strategies for improving business sustainability.

Facilitators also exposed participants to modern marketing techniques designed to help small businesses increase visibility, attract new customers and compete effectively in the digital economy.

Beyond the classroom sessions, the workshop featured networking and business engagement activities that encouraged participants to exchange ideas, build partnerships and explore future collaborations.

Many participants described the networking session as one of the programme’s major highlights, noting that it created opportunities to learn from fellow entrepreneurs and industry experts.

One of the participants, Mr. Albert, described the workshop as highly impactful, saying the digital marketing session transformed his understanding of how technology can drive business growth.

He explained that the training provided practical insights into using digital platforms to expand customer reach, improve brand visibility and increase business profitability.
