In a strong show of support ahead of the 2025 local government elections, traditional rulers in the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State have officially endorsed Council Chairman Akogun Anomo for a second term in office.

EpeInsights reports that tThe endorsement came during the fourth edition of the council’s flagship empowerment program, the Ikosi-Ejinrin SME Grant—popularly known as Okoowo Anomo.

The programme which saw over N60 million injected into the local economy. The event, held at the LCDA secretariat, brought together political leaders, labor unions, trade associations, and grassroots stakeholders.

A total of 1,200 residents benefited from financial grants and empowerment tools aimed at reducing poverty and boosting small-scale enterprises.

“Our mission is to lift as many people as possible out of economic hardship,” Anomo said during the ceremony. “This initiative is a genuine effort to strengthen our local commerce and improve livelihoods.”

In addition to the empowerment grants, six traditional rulers were presented with new official vehicles to support their community leadership roles.

The beneficiaries include: Oba Rafiu Balogun (Ejalonibu II), Elejinrin of Ejinrin, Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe (Jamade I), Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu, Oba Saheed Momson (Mabudeje Aduloju III), Abowa of Agbowa, Oba Mushafau Olofin-Ajaiye, Olori-Ido of Orugbo-Iddo, Oba Nelson Ogunlari (Ogundalu II), Olowu of Owu-Ikosi and Oba Elias Adedapo (Ijelu I), Olota of Otta-Ikosi.Traditional Rulers Endorse Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman Akogun Anomo for Second Term

According to Anomo’s Chief Press Secretary, Areh Abdulhamid, the monarchs not only praised the chairman’s inclusive leadership and achievements but also went as far as purchasing his nomination form for re-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the event, Alhaji Shakiru Akanni Seriki (BAMU), APC Apex Leader in Epe Division and a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), commended Anomo’s performance and reaffirmed the party’s backing for his second-term bid.

Grateful for the widespread support, Anomo said: “Your love and trust have overwhelmed me. I rededicate myself to your service and promise to deliver even more dividends of democracy. This is not about politics—it’s about people.”

The chairman also called on other aspirants to collaborate in moving the LCDA forward, emphasizing unity over rivalry.
