The Epe community came together earlier this week to pay final respects to the late Chief Akeel Olabode Sanuth.

EpeInsights reports that Chief Sanuth, was a revered statesman and cultural icon, whose life and legacy were honoured during a solemn Fidau and final burial ceremony held at Ogunmodede Club House, Marina Junction, Epe.

Led by the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Abiola Mandala, the prayer session drew prominent dignitaries, political leaders, and representatives from various associations who gathered to reflect on a life defined by service, integrity, and spiritual devotion.

“Chief Sanuth lived a life that reminds us all of the importance of humility and public service. His legacy will endure for generations,” said Sheikh Mandala, urging attendees to emulate the late leader’s example.

Among those present were Hon. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives, who described the late chief as a “bridge-builder,” committed to fostering development and unity in Epe.

“He was more than a community leader,” Raji noted. “Chief Sanuth was a symbol of peace and progress, whose life work strengthened the fabric of Epe.”

CEO of Duke TV, Hon. Olabode Gabadeen, added his tribute, highlighting the deceased’s commitment to youth development and cultural preservation.

The ceremony also featured heartfelt remarks from members of the Ijoko Agba Group, which Chief Sanuth founded. The group described him as the spiritual and intellectual backbone of their association.

“He was our guiding light—firm yet compassionate, and ever committed to unity,” a spokesperson said.

Representatives from the Epe Club and other associations echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing Chief Sanuth’s contributions to communal harmony, education, and cultural heritage.

As the sun sets on a life well lived, Epe remembers not only the man but the mission he embodied: service to others, cultural pride, and unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence.
