Tobun Rewards Young Qur’an Scholars in Epe

The Mustain Abiodun Tobun 2027 (MAT 2027) group hosted its Annual Ramadan Lecture and Qur’anic Competition on February 25 in Epe Division. The programme celebrated young scholars and promoted Islamic teachings during the holy month of Ramadan.

Epe Insights reports that the event was organised in honour of Hon. Abiodun Tobun, member representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly. Students from secondary schools across Epe participated in the keenly contested Qur’anic recitation competition.

Army Children High School emerged overall winner, receiving ₦100,000 and a certificate for outstanding performance. The victory drew applause from attendees who praised the students’ mastery of recitation.

Azeez Sofiat Taiwo of Epe Girls High School secured the first runner-up position with a cash prize of ₦75,000. Hon. Tobun also announced a scholarship award in her honour in recognition of her excellence.

Odo-Obara High School finished third and received ₦50,000. Epe Grammar School placed fourth with ₦25,000, while Ogunmodede College came fifth and was awarded ₦20,000. All participants received certificates.

In his remarks, Hon. Tobun commended the students for their impressive display of Qur’anic knowledge. He stated that their performance reaffirmed the popular saying, “Epe l’oni Qur’an,” highlighting the town’s strong Islamic heritage.

The lawmaker urged residents to embrace the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and reflect them in their daily conduct. He emphasized unity, discipline, and faith as guiding principles for community growth.

Delivering the Ramadan lecture, Sheikh Abdur Raheem Abdullahi Salaty (Albaarizy) stressed the importance of genuine love and contentment among Muslims. He encouraged believers not to see others’ success as a threat, noting that destiny unfolds according to Allah’s timing.

The cleric commended the MAT 2027 team for sustaining a platform that promotes the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and strengthens community engagement in Epe.
