The administration of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has intensified efforts to strengthen security through strategic engagement with tricycle and motorcycle operators across the council area.

Epe Insights reports that the Supervisor for Markets and Revenue, Hon. Ahmed Ajibola Elemoro, met with leaders of tricycle (Keke) and motorcycle (Okada) riders’ associations on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to discuss security concerns and operational regulations.

The meeting formed part of the Olowa administration’s ongoing commitment to maintaining peace, public safety, and order within Ibeju-Lekki communities.

During the engagement, stakeholders deliberated on measures aimed at improving security monitoring and enhancing accountability among commercial transport operators.

One of the key resolutions reached was the introduction of a standardized identification system for all registered tricycle and motorcycle operators within the local government.

Officials noted that the initiative would make it easier to identify operators, improve record-keeping, and support security agencies in monitoring activities across communities.

The meeting also agreed on the establishment of clear operational guidelines designed to regulate the activities of riders and promote responsible conduct.

As part of the resolutions, motorcycle operators were directed to conclude daily operations by 10:00 p.m. to support ongoing efforts to curb security threats and maintain public order.

Hon. Elemoro emphasized the importance of cooperation between transport operators, residents, and government authorities in sustaining a safe environment.

He stated that security remains a collective responsibility and called on operators to comply with regulations introduced for the benefit of the wider community.

The supervisor commended the leadership of the riders’ associations for their willingness to collaborate with the local government on security-related matters.

According to him, the partnership between the council and transport operators will contribute significantly to efforts aimed at preventing criminal activities and improving community safety.

The Olowa administration reaffirmed its determination to continue implementing proactive measures that strengthen security structures across the local government.

The council also announced plans to convene a broader stakeholders’ meeting involving all unit coordinators of tricycle and motorcycle associations operating within Ibeju-Lekki.
