Power Outage Hits Three Estates in Epe, Residents Seek Government Intervention

Residents of Imokun in Epe Local Government Area have raised an urgent appeal to political office holders over a month-long power outage affecting three major estates in the area.

EpeInsights gathered that Goshen Estate, Divine Estate, and Mercy Estate have been plunged into total darkness following the removal of outdated electric cables from the community’s transformer.

Despite a collective effort by residents to refurbish the transformer through personal contributions, the power supply issue remains unresolved.

According to Imam Agbaraojo, a concerned resident who signed the appeal on behalf of the affected communities, the situation has severely impacted daily life and economic activities.

“After our community came together to refurbish the transformer, we were hopeful. But barely a month later, the electric cables began malfunctioning. Now, we are in total darkness again,” he said.

The residents are calling on elected representatives to urgently intervene and restore electricity to the affected areas.

Specifically, the appeal was directed to Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Hon. Wale Raji, Member, House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Sylvester Oluwadahunsi, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency II and Hon. Akinloye Monsuru, Executive Chairman, Eredo LCDA.

Community members emphasized that restoring electricity is not only essential for comfort and safety but also for fostering local development and enhancing the productivity of constituents.

“We will be deeply grateful if our representatives can prioritize this issue. It will go a long way in improving the living standards and capacity building of our people,” the statement concluded.
