Olowa Speaks at Lagos Business School Women’s Day Event

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, participated as a special guest at an International Women’s Day programme held at Lagos Business School.

Epe Insights reports that the event took place at the Honeywell Auditorium of the institution and featured discussions focused on women’s empowerment and community development.

The programme was themed “Raising Women, Raising Communities: The Give to Gain Mandate.”

The gathering attracted academics, policy stakeholders, community leaders and participants interested in promoting gender inclusion and leadership opportunities for women.

Hon. Olowa attended the event alongside the Supervisor for Education, Sodiq Agbaje, and the Supervisor for Environment, Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan.

During his remarks, the council chairman highlighted the vital role women play in community development and sustainable progress.

He commended the organisers for hosting a programme that encourages dialogue on empowering women and strengthening communities.

Olowa said the discussions and presentations at the event provided valuable insights into how investment in women can support broader societal growth.

He also highlighted key initiatives implemented by his administration to support women and youth development within the local government area.

According to him, one of the notable achievements of the administration is a partnership with Pan Atlantic University aimed at expanding educational opportunities.

The collaboration, he explained, has supported more than 500 tutorial beneficiaries.

He added that over 250 of those beneficiaries have successfully gained admission into various higher institutions.

A major highlight of the programme was a lecture delivered by Abolaji Osime, Chief Executive Officer of Global International Secondary and College.

In her presentation, she described women as architects who shape the cultural and social systems that sustain communities.

She also emphasized the importance of creating opportunities that allow women to thrive in leadership and professional spaces.

During the session, Hon. Olowa responded to questions on participatory governance and grassroots development initiatives.

Participants also discussed ways communities can support programmes that improve education and opportunities for women.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nsima Aladi.
