The administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has continued to implement proactive measures aimed at enhancing security and public safety across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
Epe Insights reports that the Olowa administration convened a strategic meeting with leaders of tricycle (Keke) and motorcycle (Okada) operators as part of efforts to strengthen security coordination and address emerging concerns within the local government area.
The meeting, facilitated by the Supervisor for Markets and Revenue, Hon. Ahmed Ajibola Elemoro, underscored the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across Ibeju-Lekki.
Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Elemoro noted that the Olowa administration recognizes the important role transport operators play in community safety and intelligence gathering.

He stated that the local government is determined to work closely with transport unions to establish a safer and more organized operating environment for residents and commuters.
As part of resolutions reached during the meeting, the administration approved the introduction of a uniform identification system for all tricycle and motorcycle operators within the council area.
The initiative is expected to improve accountability, assist security agencies in monitoring activities, and help identify legitimate operators across various communities.
The meeting also agreed on the implementation of structured operational guidelines to regulate commercial transportation activities and improve compliance with local government directives.
To further support security efforts, motorcycle operators were directed to conclude their daily operations by 10:00 p.m., a measure designed to reduce security risks and strengthen nighttime surveillance.
The Olowa administration emphasized that the regulation is part of broader efforts to create a secure environment where residents can live and conduct business without fear.

Participants at the meeting expressed support for the new measures and pledged to cooperate with the local government in ensuring effective implementation.
The administration reiterated that security remains a shared responsibility requiring collaboration among government, security agencies, transport operators, and community stakeholders.
Hon. Elemoro urged operators to remain law-abiding and assist authorities by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their respective areas.
He further disclosed that the Olowa administration is planning a larger stakeholders’ forum involving all unit coordinators of tricycle and motorcycle associations operating in Ibeju-Lekki.
The proposed meeting will provide an opportunity to review implementation strategies and strengthen partnership between the local government and transport unions.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to proactive governance and community security.

Observers noted that the engagement reflects the Olowa administration’s determination to address security concerns through dialogue, regulation, and stakeholder participation.
As Ibeju-Lekki continues to witness rapid growth and development, the local government remains focused on introducing policies and partnerships that support peace, stability, and sustainable progress.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from transport operators and government officials to work together in preserving the security and tranquility of Ibeju-Lekki communities.
