The TSO South-West Coordinator for Women Mobilisation, Dr. Omowunmi Kafilat Olalere, has urged Lagosians and Nigerians to prepare early for the forthcoming general elections by keeping their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready.
Epe Insights reports that Olalere made the call while addressing supporters and stakeholders, urging voters to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State governorship candidate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to her, early voter awareness and mobilisation are essential to ensuring active participation in the electoral process.
Olalere said her primary objective was to mobilise residents and stakeholders towards supporting the re-election bid of President Tinubu and the APC candidates.
She disclosed that she had reached out to traditional rulers, chiefs and women across the communities as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
The TSO coordinator said the traditional institutions and women she engaged had listened to the message and expressed their support for President Tinubu, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and his running mate, Princess Damilola Sanyon-James.
She stressed the importance of women in politics, describing them as a major force in grassroots mobilisation and political participation.
According to Olalere, women possess experience, values and influence that can contribute significantly to political development and effective community engagement.
She also noted that women have remained an important part of the political structure and should continue to participate actively in electoral processes.
Olalere commended the Tinubu administration for what she described as its support for greater inclusion of women in governance and political opportunities.
She referenced the administration’s reported commitment to providing women with increased opportunities, stressing that women should continue to take advantage of available platforms to contribute to national development.
The TSO South-West women mobilisation coordinator also highlighted what she described as various impactful projects and people-oriented programmes implemented by the Tinubu administration.
She, however, identified communication as a major challenge affecting public awareness of some of the administration’s programmes and achievements.
According to her, the communication gap has made it difficult for some Nigerians to fully understand or appreciate the policies, projects and programmes being implemented by the Federal Government.
Olalere said some citizens were therefore finding it difficult to believe the level of progress she attributed to the current administration.
She explained that this situation informed the decision of the TSO to intensify sensitisation, awareness and reorientation programmes across communities.
The initiative, she said, would focus particularly on women, who she described as critical stakeholders in grassroots mobilisation.
Olalere said the organisation would continue to engage directly with communities to provide information and encourage citizens to participate actively in the democratic process.
She also urged Nigerians to take the issue of voter participation seriously and ensure they are properly prepared ahead of the general elections.
The coordinator encouraged eligible voters to keep their PVCs safe and be ready to exercise their constitutional right when the elections arrive.
She emphasised that political participation should not be limited to election day, noting that citizens also need to understand the issues, programmes and candidates involved in the electoral process.
Olalere further called on women to remain actively involved in community discussions, political engagement and voter sensitisation.
She said women’s voices could play an important role in shaping political outcomes and promoting development at the grassroots.
The TSO official maintained that sustained engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders and women would help strengthen political awareness across Lagos communities.
She said the organisation would continue its mobilisation efforts in line with its objective of building stronger grassroots support for its preferred candidates.
Olalere’s message also focused on the need for voters to make informed decisions while participating in the elections.
She urged residents to listen to campaign messages, understand the programmes presented by candidates and participate responsibly in the democratic process.
The call comes as political activities and grassroots engagements begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
For Olalere, sustained voter sensitisation remains important in bridging the information gap between government programmes and citizens.
She reiterated the commitment of TSO women mobilisers to reaching communities, engaging stakeholders and encouraging greater participation by women.
Olalere ultimately appealed to Lagosians and Nigerians to remain politically aware, protect their PVCs and prepare for the elections.
