The Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department (WAPA) of Lekki LCDA will hold a Mental Health and Depression Awareness Campaign for women on February 23, 2026.

Epe Insights reports that the programme will begin at 10 a.m. at the Council Hall within the LCDA secretariat, bringing together women across the community for discussions on emotional wellbeing.

The campaign is themed “Promoting Emotional Wellness and Breaking the Silence.” It aims to create a safe and supportive space where women can openly share their experiences and seek guidance.

Organisers say the initiative is designed to address the stigma surrounding mental health. The event will also encourage participants to speak up about depression and emotional struggles without fear of judgment.

The Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to programmes that promote the well-being of residents.

According to council officials, the mental health awareness drive aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen social support systems for women within the LCDA.

The campaign will feature interactive sessions, health talks, and practical guidance aimed at helping women recognise signs of emotional distress and access appropriate support.

Participants are expected to gain insights into coping strategies, stress management, and the importance of seeking professional help when necessary.

Community leaders have described the initiative as timely, noting the increasing need for mental health awareness at the grassroots level.

Women across Lekki LCDA are encouraged to attend and actively participate in the programme.

Officials emphasised that building stronger support networks among women will contribute to healthier families and a more resilient community.

The council reiterated its resolve to continue implementing people-focused initiatives that enhance quality of life and promote inclusive development.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it will foster open conversations and lasting change within the community.
