Senator Natasha is set to face Senate Disciplinary Panel over an outburst during plenary.
Epe Insights reports that the senator representing the Kogi Central at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan will now face a senate disciplinary panel over her seat reallocation outburst in the red chamber.
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, announced this on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, saying a motion to that regard has referred the matter to its Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions committee.
Epe Insights recalls that the controversy started when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was reassigned to the Senate chamber without her consent.
The Kogi senator was moved from her original position in the minority section to the last row, a change she resisted.
Her refusal to comply with the arrangement was deemed a violation of Senate rules.
The Senate President said Akpoti-Uduaghan will now face a disciplinary panel, which will then revert to the chamber after investigation.
Akpabio said: “There’s a motion before us that we should refer the entirety of the saga to our Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, and then to revert to us. But let me just read this for the record, even the first time the issue came up here our distinguished sister was not even speaking from her seat. And that was, that was when we tried to call her to order.”
