The Lagos State Government has announced the postponement of the planned closure of the PWD Rail Crossing, shifting the date from Wednesday, May 1, 2025, to a new closure date of Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
EpeInsights reports that the state’s Ministry of Transportation, in a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, said the adjustment is aimed at giving motorists and other road users more time to prepare and make alternative travel arrangements.
“The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the public that the scheduled closure of the PWD Rail Crossing, initially set for 1st May, 2025, has been postponed to Wednesday, 14th May, 2025,” the statement read.
According to Ogunlola, the alternative routes communicated in the earlier advisory remain unchanged.
Motorists are encouraged to use those designated routes during the period of the closure to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
The closure is part of ongoing efforts to improve railway infrastructure and ensure the safety of all road users in the area.

From Ikeja GRA to Oshodi: Use Oba Akinjobi Way to connect to Airport Under Bridge, then proceed to Oshodi Motorway.

From Oshodi to Ikeja GRA: Take the Airport Bridge or Adegbola Level Crossing to access Oba Akinjobi Way.

From Mushin to Ikeja: Navigate through Vono Road, linking Tinubu/Olateju Streets to connect to Ikorodu Road via Ogunmokun Toll Gate, then proceed to Ladipo Street to access Oshodi-Oke or Moshalashi to Empire, leading to Jibowu.

From Ilupeju to Agege Motor Road: Divert to Town Planning Way to link Jibowu/Empire axis through Ikorodu Road. Alternatively, use Oshodi-Oke to Bolade (Arena Market Area) to reach Agege Motor Road.
