The Lagos State Government has announced plans to expand the 94-meter Right of Way (RoW) along the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe Expressway, cautioning individuals and businesses encroaching on the reserved corridor to vacate immediately.
In a public notice published in national newspapers, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development stated that the RoW—stretching 69.1 km from Admiralty Toll Plaza to Epe Junction has been reserved for critical infrastructure, including a three-lane dual carriageway, green-line rail tracks, pedestrian bridges, drainages, and gas pipelines.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Oluwole Sotire, signed the statement, which emphasized that the right of way may be further expanded at strategic points to accommodate interchanges and rail stations.
Physical inspections to clearly define the alignment and identify encroachments will begin shortly.
“The public is hereby informed that this corridor must remain clear to ensure space for essential social infrastructure,” the notice reads. “Encroachments threaten the feasibility of long-term infrastructure planning and must be addressed proactively.”
The state government urged those occupying sections of the RoW to begin disengagement immediately once final alignments are marked, adding that cooperation is essential to safeguard the future of Lagos’ urban development.
The move underscores Lagos’ broader infrastructure agenda to improve transportation and public utility systems across rapidly growing corridors such as the Lekki-Epe axis, which continues to experience population and commercial expansion.
