Epe Local Government has commenced the 2026 Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Week, reaffirming its commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare services for residents across the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the week-long healthcare programme is being organised by Epe Local Government in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and adolescents.
The exercise will run from Monday, July 20, to Friday, July 24, 2026, beginning daily at 8:00 a.m., across all Primary Health Care Centres and designated temporary outreach posts within Epe Local Government.
Health officials said the annual programme forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services and ensure that residents have access to essential medical care at no cost.
The initiative is designed to improve maternal and child health while encouraging families to take advantage of preventive healthcare services available within their communities.
Residents have been encouraged to participate actively in the programme by visiting the nearest Primary Health Care Centre or designated outreach post during the exercise.
Among the free services available are antenatal care for expectant mothers and postnatal care for women who have recently given birth.
Healthcare professionals will also provide family planning services for both men and women to promote informed reproductive health decisions and family well-being.
The programme includes deworming services for eligible children to help prevent infections that may affect their growth and overall health.
Children will also receive Vitamin A supplementation as part of efforts to strengthen immunity and support healthy physical development.
Growth monitoring will be carried out to assess children’s development and identify any early signs of health concerns requiring medical attention.
Health workers will also conduct malnutrition screening to identify children and mothers who may require nutritional support or further medical care.
According to the local government, early detection and timely intervention remain essential to improving health outcomes for mothers and children.
