In the spirit of Easter, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to embrace love, unity, and sacrifice—values at the heart of the Christian faith.
EpeInsights reports that the First lady said this at the 2025 Family Easter Fiesta, themed “Love Beyond Message.”
Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the significance of Christ’s resurrection as a powerful symbol of victory, hope, and unwavering faith in God.
Held at the historic Lagos House in Marina, the annual fiesta brought together children and families in celebration, reflection, and fellowship. Quoting Isaiah 53:5, the First Lady described Jesus’ death and resurrection as the ultimate expression of divine love, urging believers to let that love shape their daily lives.
“Easter reminds us of the triumph over sin and the power of God’s grace,” she said. “It’s a call to live with compassion, kindness, and a deep sense of purpose.”
Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s message extended to the younger generation as she encouraged them to stay true to their dreams, steer clear of negative influences, and embrace their unique gifts. “You are light,” she told them. “Shine with confidence and purpose.”
Also present was the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to quality education and youth empowerment. “Our children deserve the tools to thrive, and we’re ensuring they have them,” he said.
Adding spiritual depth to the gathering, Reverend Kolade Ilori of Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral delivered a soul-stirring exhortation, reminding all present of their divine calling to love—unconditionally and unreservedly.

The Easter fiesta wasn’t just about speeches and sermons. It was a celebration filled with music, laughter, and joy, as children received gifts and shared special moments with the First Family.
As the season of Easter continues, Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s words serve as a timely reminder: “This season is dear to my heart. It reminds us of the power of love and the enduring hope we find in God.”
