The Council of Obas in Ibeju-Lekki Council of Obas has convened a strategic peace meeting with political aspirants ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
Epe Insights reports that the meeting was held at the palace of the Elemoro in Elemoro Palace and brought together traditional rulers, aspirants, and community stakeholders across the local government area.
The engagement was organized to strengthen peace, ensure security of lives and property, and promote a hitch-free political exercise during the party primaries.
The Chairman of the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Ibeju-Lekki, HRM Oba Waliu Rasak Olasunkanmi Oguntolu I, led the royal delegation at the meeting.
Oba Oguntolu urged all political aspirants to conduct themselves as responsible leaders and ambassadors of their communities and political parties.

He emphasized the importance of peace before, during, and after the primaries, warning against actions capable of triggering violence or political unrest.
The monarch cautioned that any aspirant or supporter found engaging in disorderly conduct would face legal consequences in line with established laws.
He stressed that political ambition should never be allowed to disrupt the peace and unity of Ibeju-Lekki communities.
According to him, the stability of the area remains a shared responsibility among traditional institutions, political actors, and residents.
Oba Oguntolu further called for tolerance, mutual respect, and collaboration among all aspirants, regardless of political affiliations.

He noted that democracy thrives best in an environment where peace and understanding are prioritized over division and hostility.
The royal father encouraged contestants to see themselves as brothers and sisters working towards the collective development of the local government area.
Stakeholders at the meeting also commended the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary ahead of the party primaries.
They expressed optimism that the peace dialogue would help reduce tension and promote a transparent and orderly electoral process within the APC structure.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitments from aspirants to uphold peace, respect party guidelines, and contribute to a violence-free political atmosphere in Ibeju-Lekki.
