Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on his 62nd birthday.
Epe Insights reports that Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat as a trusted partner and dedicated public servant with years of service to Lagos State and Nigeria.
The governor conveyed the birthday message in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, on Friday.
Hamzat, who clocks 62 on Saturday, was praised by the governor for what he described as his commitment to public service and the development of Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu also recognised Hamzat’s role as Deputy Governor and his involvement in the administration’s governance activities over the past seven years.
According to the governor, he and Hamzat have worked together since May 29, 2019, on issues relating to governance and public administration in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu described his deputy as a dependable partner who has contributed to the administration’s efforts in serving residents of the state.
He also highlighted Hamzat’s interest in governance, public service, humanity and the continued development of Lagos.
The governor extended his greetings on behalf of his wife, Ibijoke, his family, the Lagos State Government and residents of the state.
He also included leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, as well as members of the Governance Advisory Council, in the birthday greetings.
Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat as a technocrat and administrator with experience in both public service and politics.
He also referred to the deputy governor as hardworking, supportive and trustworthy.

The governor further reflected on their working relationship since 2019, describing it as a period of collaboration in the administration of Lagos State.
Hamzat has served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State since May 2019, working alongside Sanwo-Olu during the current administration.
In his message, Sanwo-Olu also made a political statement concerning the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
He identified Hamzat as the APC governorship candidate and expressed his support for Hamzat to succeed him as governor.
Sanwo-Olu urged APC supporters and Lagos voters to support Hamzat at the polls, linking his appeal to what he described as continuity in governance.
The statement therefore combined birthday greetings with the governor’s assessment of Hamzat’s public service record and his political support ahead of the 2027 election.
Hamzat’s birthday comes as political activities surrounding the next Lagos governorship election continue to develop.
The APC has included Hamzat within its campaign structure for the 2027 electoral cycle, with campaign activities being organised across the state.
Beyond his current political role, Hamzat has held several public positions during his career in Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu used the occasion of his deputy’s birthday to acknowledge his contributions and describe their partnership in government.
The governor also highlighted Hamzat’s role in supporting the administration’s work across various sectors.
The birthday message further recognised Hamzat’s family responsibilities and his contribution to public life.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in his deputy’s ability to continue contributing to the development of Lagos.
His message also reflected the close political and administrative relationship between both officials.
As Hamzat marks his 62nd birthday, the governor’s congratulatory message places emphasis on his years of public service, his role as deputy governor and his participation in Lagos politics.
The celebration also comes ahead of the 2027 governorship election, for which Hamzat is the APC candidate, according to the statement.
Sanwo-Olu concluded his message by wishing Hamzat continued success and commending his years of service to Lagos State and Nigeria.
