The Federation of Epe Division Students Association parliament has declared the seats of the association’s president and other executive members vacant following their failure to be officially inaugurated.

Epe Insights reports that the decision was taken during the inaugural plenary session of the National Parliamentary Council.

The session was presided over by the Speaker of the council, Bello Fareedah, who led lawmakers in deliberating on the leadership situation within the student body.

During the plenary, members of the council raised concerns over the alleged parading of certain individuals as elected executives despite not being formally inaugurated.

According to the lawmakers, the action violated the constitutional provisions guiding the activities of the student association.

They explained that the Independent Electoral Committee had not officially conducted the required inauguration process for the executives.

As a result, the council resolved that the affected positions, including that of the president, be declared vacant.

Lawmakers described the situation as a challenge to constitutional order and democratic principles within the student body.

They emphasized that adherence to the constitution is essential for maintaining credibility and stability in the association.

The council warned that allowing individuals to assume office without proper procedures could weaken institutional integrity.

Members also noted that such actions could create divisions among students and affect unity across the Epe Division student community.

Following deliberations, the parliament announced the constitution of a bye-election committee to oversee the process of electing new executives.

The committee has been tasked with organizing a transparent and credible election to fill the vacant positions.

Lawmakers expressed confidence that the process would restore confidence in the association’s democratic structure.

In addition to addressing the leadership issue, members of the council discussed several developmental initiatives aimed at supporting students and the wider community.

Among the proposals was the establishment of a student-driven Tech Hub to promote digital innovation and technological skills among youths.

The lawmakers also introduced the “Clean Up Epe” initiative aimed at encouraging environmental sanitation and community responsibility.

Another proposal discussed during the plenary was the “Pad a Girl Child” programme.

The initiative seeks to support young female students through access to sanitary products and awareness on menstrual health.

Members noted that such programmes would contribute to improving the welfare of students and promoting social responsibility.

The council reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and constitutional governance within the student association.

Observers within the Epe student community described the parliamentary action as a step toward strengthening democratic values.

The parliament assured students that further updates regarding the bye-election process will be communicated in due course.
