CMB Visits Ibeju-Lekki LCDA to Strengthen Mediation Services

The Permanent Secretary of the Citizens’ Mediation Bureau (CMB), Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Aderinsola Olanrewaju, accompanied by Mrs. Kehinde Iyade, Head of CMB Ibeju-Lekki/Epe Unit, paid a courtesy visit to Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

Epe Insights reports that the visit aimed to discuss expanding mediation services and enhancing community dispute resolution.

During the meeting, Mrs. Olanrewaju commended the Local Government for its ongoing support and highlighted the bureau’s success in resolving disputes amicably. She requested additional funding to increase the centre’s outreach and raise awareness of free mediation services for residents.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, Chief of Staff, praised the Lagos State Government and CMB for promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He noted that the mediation centre has significantly reduced court backlogs and strengthened peace within communities.

Mr Olayinka assured that the Executive Chairman would carefully consider all requests and implement measures to enhance the mediation center’s operations and accessibility for residents of Ibeju-Lekki.

The discussion emphasized the importance of mediation in providing timely, accessible, and cost-free justice while preserving relationships. The initiative ensures civil disputes are resolved efficiently without escalating into formal litigation, benefiting both individuals and the wider community.

Officials highlighted the need for continuous collaboration between the Local Government, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, and CMB to maintain and expand outreach programs. The goal is to make mediation services more visible and widely used across the LCDA.

Both parties pledged to monitor progress and explore innovative ways to enhance the impact of mediation services.
