EPWA Marks 10th Anniversary with Free Medical Outreach in Òwu-Ikosi

The Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA) has extended its humanitarian impact to the Òwu-Ikosi community in Ibeju-Lekki as part of activities marking its 10th anniversary, offering residents free medical care and wellness services.

EpeInsights reports that the outreach, held at the Òwu-Ikosi Town Hall, drew large crowds from the host community and surrounding areas.

Beneficiaries received free health screenings, dental checks, medication, and other essential treatments aimed at improving community health and well-being.

Speaking at the event, the former General Manager of Lagos Television and one of EPWA’s founding members, Mrs. Folake Moore, expressed pride in the association’s decade-long record of community service.

“In the past ten years, we have empowered several women and youths across the Epe Division through business grants, skill acquisition, and scholarships,” Mrs. Moore said.

“Our focus has always been on empowering families, especially women, because when a woman thrives, the entire community benefits.”

She added that EPWA’s work over the years has cut across humanitarian interventions, palliative support, mentorship, and educational programmes aimed at building a stronger, more inclusive society.

Also speaking, the immediate past president of the association, Mrs. Opeoluwa Adeyemi, emphasized that the outreach was not just a health initiative but part of EPWA’s broader vision to promote sustainable community development.

“This is not our first medical outreach, and it definitely won’t be the last,” she said. “We are currently working on a vocational training centre that will provide women and youths with practical skills to make them self-reliant. Our goal is to continue touching lives and lifting more families out of poverty.”

Residents of Òwu-Ikosi, many of whom received free medications and consultations, expressed gratitude to the association.
One beneficiary, Mrs. Adetutu Adefemi, praised the women for their compassion, describing the outreach as “a timely intervention during a difficult economic period.”

“I came for a checkup and dental screening, and I was treated with care and given free medicine,” she said. “We truly appreciate EPWA for remembering our community.”

The event ended with group photographs, health education sessions, and words of appreciation from community leaders, who lauded EPWA for being a symbol of hope, progress, and service across the Epe Division.

As EPWA celebrates a decade of impact, the association reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment, education, and health development across Lagos State.
