Red Cross Ibeju-Lekki Branch Visits Olowu

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ibeju-Lekki Branch, has declared support for Hon. (Engr.) Abiola Okanlawon Olowu, OKL, FNSE, as its preferred candidate for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly election.

Epe Insights reports that the declaration was made during a solidarity visit led by the branch leader, Mr Anthony Anyanwu. The group reportedly cited Olowu’s leadership approach, service record and interest in community development as reasons for its position.

During the visit, Anyanwu described Olowu as a compassionate leader whose stated values align with the humanitarian principles of the Red Cross, including humanity, impartiality and voluntary service.

He also stressed the importance of having a representative who understands the relationship between community development and the welfare of residents.

According to the account of the visit, the group expressed the view that healthcare, emergency response and social welfare should remain important considerations in the development of Ibeju-Lekki.

In his response, Olowu thanked the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ibeju-Lekki Branch, for the visit and the confidence it expressed in him.

He pledged that, if elected, his priorities would include healthcare, emergency response, youth development and inclusive governance.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the group and the aspirant to discuss issues relating to community welfare and the needs of residents across the constituency.

The Red Cross Society is an international humanitarian movement whose work generally focuses on assisting people affected by emergencies, promoting health and providing support to vulnerable communities. Its humanitarian principles emphasise service based on need and impartiality.

The reported endorsement adds another development to political activities surrounding the contest for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I ahead of the Lagos State House of Assembly election.

As the election approaches, residents will have the opportunity to assess candidates’ records, proposals and commitments on issues such as healthcare access, infrastructure, youth opportunities and public welfare.

The reported visit also draws attention to the importance of humanitarian concerns in discussions about constituency representation. However, the organisation’s position, as described in the supplied account, should be distinguished from any formal institutional endorsement unless independently confirmed by the branch.
