The Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced the distribution of 80,000 exercise books to pupils across all 19 public primary schools in the council area as part of efforts to strengthen basic education and support pupils’ learning.
Epe Insights reports that the distribution was officially flagged off at RCM Primary School, Odomola, where the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Lateef Adesanya.
Speaking at the event, Adesanya said the initiative was designed to provide pupils with essential learning materials, promote literacy and reduce part of the educational burden on parents and guardians.
He described the exercise as another practical expression of the administration’s commitment to providing meaningful dividends of democracy and supporting the educational development of children across Eredo LCDA.
According to the council, the distribution is targeted at pupils in all 19 public primary schools within the LCDA, with the exercise structured to ensure that pupils across the different communities benefit from the initiative.
Schools covered during the first phase of the distribution include RCM Primary School, Odomola; AUD Primary School, Odo-Egiri; UPE Primary School, Iraye; Government Demonstration Primary School, Noforija; and LG Primary School, Noforija.
Others are Pobo Primary School, Poka, and RCM Primary School, Iragunshin.
The council said the distribution exercise will continue across other public primary schools in Eredo LCDA, with the aim of ensuring that every pupil is reached.
The provision of exercise books is expected to assist pupils in their daily classroom activities, particularly by making basic writing materials more readily available to learners.
For many families, the cost of educational materials can add to the financial responsibilities associated with sending children to school. The initiative therefore forms part of the council administration’s efforts to provide support that directly affects pupils, parents and schools.
The exercise also reflects the importance of providing basic learning materials alongside improvements to school infrastructure. With pupils requiring appropriate materials for classroom activities, access to exercise books remains an essential component of effective learning.
The flag-off at RCM Primary School, Odomola, also highlights the council’s ongoing attention to public primary schools across its communities.
The distribution comes amid other education-focused interventions by the Akinloye administration, including support for public schools and improvements to learning facilities within Eredo LCDA.
The administration has maintained that education remains an important part of its development agenda, with investments in schools viewed as investments in the future of children and the wider community.
As the exercise continues across the remaining public primary schools, the council is expected to extend the distribution to pupils in other communities within the LCDA.
The 80,000 exercise books will consequently provide learning support to pupils across the council area while helping schools and families meet some of the basic material needs associated with primary education.
The Eredo LCDA administration has reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that support children, strengthen education and contribute to community development.
