The July Monthly General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ibeju-Lekki Branch, held at the Council Secretariat, Igando Oloja, where the Lagasa Water Project received widespread attention from engineering professionals.

The centrepiece of the meeting was the detailed presentation of the Lagasa Water Project, a flagship infrastructure initiative under the Lagasa Clean Water Vision, which aims to provide residents with a dependable, modern and sustainable water supply system.
The project is designed to establish a scalable and metered water distribution network capable of delivering clean and safe water directly to homes while accommodating the area’s expanding population and future development.
Speaking after the presentation, Hon. Olowa applauded members of the NSE Water Project Committee for their dedication and technical expertise in developing the proposal.
He described the committee’s work as exceptional, noting that the Lagasa Clean Water Vision is more than a water project but a transformational investment in public health, environmental sustainability and improved living standards.
According to the chairman, the vision is to eliminate the persistent challenge of inadequate potable water by building infrastructure that is efficient, reliable and capable of serving generations to come.
He explained that access to clean water remains one of the most important pillars of his administration’s development agenda, stressing that every household deserves a dependable supply of safe drinking water.
Hon. Olowa noted that the Lagasa Clean Water Vision reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering practical solutions that directly improve the welfare of residents across communities in Ibeju-Lekki.
He said the project also aligns with the local government’s broader infrastructure strategy aimed at supporting rapid urbanisation and industrial expansion within the council area.
The chairman reaffirmed that collaboration with engineering professionals remains critical to achieving the vision, describing the Nigerian Society of Engineers as a valuable development partner.
A major intellectual highlight of the meeting was a technical presentation titled “Unlocking the Mutual Benefits and Obligations of NSE Membership Through Enduring Branch Growth.”
The lecture was delivered by former President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, who encouraged members to strengthen professional commitment while promoting institutional growth within the engineering body.
The presentation examined the responsibilities and opportunities associated with active membership, while highlighting the importance of unity, professionalism and continuous development in advancing engineering practice.
The Chairman of the NSE Ibeju-Lekki Branch, Engr. Dare Olorunfemi, also commended Hon. Olowa for his consistent support for the engineering profession.
He praised the council chairman’s leadership, particularly his swift interventions in addressing recent flooding incidents and strengthening security across parts of Ibeju-Lekki.
According to him, the administration has demonstrated a willingness to work closely with professionals in developing sustainable solutions to local challenges.
Beyond discussions on infrastructure and professional development, the meeting also celebrated the continued growth of the relatively young Ibeju-Lekki Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Members welcomed newly inducted engineers into the branch, describing the development as another milestone in expanding the society’s professional network within the local government.
Preparations for the 2026 Engineering Week also featured prominently during the meeting as members outlined activities aimed at promoting engineering innovation and community engagement.
The branch equally discussed plans for its forthcoming Annual General Meeting and luncheon, which will bring together professionals to review progress and chart a new course for future development.
In addition, members born in the month of July were recognised and celebrated, adding a moment of fellowship to the professional gathering.
