Assembly Applauds Epe LG Achievements

The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the developmental achievements recorded by the administration of the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHT, during an official oversight visit to the council.

Epe Insights reports that the oversight delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, visited Epe Local Government to assess ongoing projects, strengthen legislative collaboration, and evaluate the council’s performance in delivering grassroots development.

The delegation included Hon. Oladele Ajayi, Hon. Samuel Apata, Hon. Olusegun Adebisi (Ege), Hon. Surajudeen Tijani (Emir), Hon. Wale Yusuf, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Adebola Rasheed (Shabi), and Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem.

The lawmakers were received by Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun alongside members of the Executive Council, the Legislative Arm, and the council’s Management Team.

The committee commenced its inspection with a visit to the Epe City Museum Centre, where members praised the facility as a landmark investment in cultural preservation, tourism, and education.

The lawmakers noted that the museum has distinguished Epe as the only local government in Lagos State with a world-class Museum Centre, describing it as a legacy project that promotes the area’s rich history and cultural identity.

The delegation also inspected the Ultra-Modern ICT Centre, commending the project for expanding digital innovation and improving access to technology-driven opportunities within the council.

Committee members further visited the Lofty Luxury Apartments, where they applauded the initiative for enhancing staff welfare and supporting the local government’s commitment to sustainable development.

Following the inspection tour, the delegation proceeded to the council’s Conference Hall, where Hon. Animashaun presented a comprehensive scorecard highlighting the achievements of her administration.

The chairman outlined major accomplishments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism, environmental sustainability, security, youth and women empowerment, staff welfare, and digital transformation.

She explained that the projects were carefully designed to improve the quality of life for residents while supporting inclusive growth and long-term development across Epe Local Government.

Hon. Animashaun reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to transparent governance, prudent management of public resources, and the execution of projects that directly benefit communities.

The committee also visited the Vocational Training Centre, where members praised the facility for promoting skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.

Lawmakers described the centre as a strategic investment that will equip residents with practical skills capable of improving livelihoods and supporting economic development.

The delegation concluded its inspection at the Ultra-Modern Multi-Purpose Hall, applauding the quality of the facility and its potential to host community programmes, official events, and social engagements.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon commended the remarkable transformation recorded across Epe Local Government under the leadership of Hon. Animashaun.

He described the council as a model of visionary leadership and effective grassroots governance, noting that the administration has consistently delivered impactful projects across critical sectors.

According to the committee chairman, the Epe City Museum Centre, the ICT Centre, and other legacy projects have positioned Epe among the most progressive local governments in Lagos State.

He encouraged the council to sustain the momentum by continuing to invest in people-oriented programmes and infrastructure that improve residents’ wellbeing.

Hon. Okanlawon also reaffirmed the Lagos State House of Assembly’s commitment to supporting local governments through effective oversight, legislative partnership, and policies that strengthen grassroots governance.

Responding to the commendation, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun expressed appreciation to the committee for its recognition of the council’s achievements and constructive observations.

She stated that the lawmakers’ commendation serves as further motivation for her administration to deepen its commitment to quality service delivery and sustainable development.

The chairman also appreciated the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders whose collaboration has contributed to the council’s progress.
