Epe Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in the June 2026 Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise held across Lagos State.
Epe Insights reports that the council deployed officials of the Environmental Health Services Department to strategic locations across the local government area to carry out waste evacuation, environmental cleaning and sanitation monitoring.
The exercise formed part of the Lagos State Government’s monthly sanitation programme aimed at promoting cleaner communities, improving public health and encouraging responsible environmental practices.
Environmental health personnel monitored compliance while removing refuse from public spaces, clearing drainage channels and ensuring cleaner surroundings in several communities across Epe.
The council stated that the sanitation exercise reflects its continued commitment to maintaining a healthy environment through effective waste management and regular environmental interventions.
During the exercise, many residents and community leaders commended the local government for its sustained efforts to improve environmental sanitation across the council area.
They noted that cleaner streets, improved waste disposal and enhanced environmental management have contributed to a more pleasant and healthier living environment for residents.
The administration described environmental cleanliness as a key requirement for sustainable development, stressing that a healthy environment supports economic growth, public safety and improved quality of life.
Residents were encouraged to complement government efforts by keeping their surroundings clean, disposing of waste through approved channels and avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
The council also urged households and business owners to ensure that drainage systems remain free of blockages to reduce the risk of flooding, particularly during the rainy season.

According to the local government, environmental sanitation should become a daily habit rather than a monthly activity, with every resident playing an active role in protecting the environment.
Officials reaffirmed the council’s determination to sustain waste management initiatives through regular sanitation exercises, public awareness campaigns and environmental monitoring across communities.
The local government further pledged to continue investing in programmes that promote cleaner neighbourhoods, healthier living conditions and environmental sustainability throughout Epe.
As the council strengthens its environmental agenda, residents have been urged to remain committed to sanitation practices that will preserve public health and create a cleaner, safer and more resilient Epe for future generations.
