Olowa Strengthens Community Security Through Eyin Osa Summit

Traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies and government officials have converged on Eyin Osa for a security stakeholders’ summit aimed at strengthening safety and tackling emerging security challenges across the community.

Epe Insights reports that the Eyin Osa Security Stakeholders’ Summit was organised by the League of Chiefs and Baales in Eleiranigbe, Arapagi and Dongo communities in partnership with the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

The summit brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on practical strategies for preventing banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities through stronger community collaboration.

Representing the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Issa Moruf Olayinka, commended the organisers for creating a platform to promote dialogue and collective action on security.

Speaking on the theme, “How to Prevent Bandit and Kidnapping Activities in Our Eyin Osa Community,” Mr. Olayinka stressed that effective security requires the active involvement of government, traditional institutions, security agencies and residents.

He urged members of the community to remain vigilant and promptly share credible information with security agencies, noting that intelligence provided by residents remains one of the most effective tools in combating crime.

The representative of the council chairman also encouraged continued cooperation among all stakeholders, stating that sustainable peace can only be achieved through shared responsibility and mutual trust.

Participants examined practical measures to improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community policing and enhance coordination between security agencies and local communities.

The stakeholders agreed that closer collaboration between traditional rulers, youth groups, community associations and law enforcement agencies would improve crime prevention and emergency response.

Traditional leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting government efforts by promoting peace, resolving community disputes and encouraging residents to remain law-abiding.

Security personnel at the summit also advised residents to report suspicious movements, avoid shielding criminal elements and cooperate fully with ongoing security operations.

The meeting further highlighted the importance of regular stakeholder engagement as a means of identifying emerging security threats and developing proactive solutions before they escalate.

Participants described the summit as timely, especially as Ibeju-Lekki continues to experience rapid population growth and increased economic activities that require stronger security coordination.

The summit concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to deepen collaboration, strengthen community vigilance and build a safer environment that supports sustainable development across Eyin Osa and the wider Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
